A new year, fresh with possibilities, brings with it a desire for change. Use that momentum! It only takes a few timely moves, like swapping out a headboard or adding a touch of subtle glam with a mirrored coffee table, to re-energize spaces. Here are the best new looks for those of you who are ready to take the plunge towards interior design trends in 2017.

Mirrored Coffee Tables

Reflective and substantial, mirrored tables are the super-sized equivalent of a princess-cut diamond. They all but disappear in a room, easily melting into contemporary or traditional styles.

The Interrupted Floor

Transitional flooring is popping up all over the place and I first laid eyes on it this summer on vacation in Spain. The trend, previouslyseen in cafés and restaurants around the world, is now going mainstream and findings its way into homes. One of the most popular combinations features hexagonal tiles and wooden floorboards, however, there are plenty of other ways to fashion the idea in your own home. Trust me, we will be incorporating this trend for a client sometime soon! Here are some of our favorite examples.

Mixed Metals

Gold, brass and the like have been dominating the metallic landscape when it comes to design for several seasons. Though these are still going strong, we’re seeing them used in new ways, most notably paired with materials that are rougher and more rustic. Think copper with concrete, aluminum set with wood, lacquer with slate, and brass with quartz.

Look around the room as a whole – it doesn’t have to be in one particular piece. Maybe you have wood elements and leather and then bring in something sleek to add contrast. We are doing that every day in our interiors, and it works especially well in kitchen design. You can have rustic wood beams on top of lacquered white walls to bring in that texture.

Scandinavian Style

Have you been on Instagram lately? If so, the dominance of Scandinavian design is nothing new, these influences are hitting the market in a pretty strong way. At heart, the Scandinavian or Nordic look is a blend of mid-century minimalism paired with soft, woven textures and simple, rustic prints. Woven Comfort

We are repeatedly drawn to natural textiles in surprising applications. These woven materials are always a hit with our texture-loving design firm. So go ahead, make your home a little more cuddly. It’s Style Spotter-approved and one of our favorite interior design trends!

Upholstered Headboards

Beds will change dramatically in 2017, with upholstered headboards set to replace the wood bed frames that previously dominated the market.

They’ve been a staple in luxury hotel bedrooms and celebrity homes for a while, but now we’re falling head over heels for this headboard trend.

Whether you opt for the classic model in neutral color with nail heads, or a plush tufted version, a headboard is an easy way to update and add instant glamour to any bedroom.
